The Pateadores playing style prioritizes possession-oriented attacking, intelligent decision making, collective movement, and a strong commitment to defending. Players are expected to embody the club's history and culture while defending its values both on and off the field.

FAMILIES ROLE IN THE COACHING PROCESS

Pateadores Soccer Club encourages families to apply these concepts in the coaching process. Parents have a positive impact on the development of their children and create a club culture that promotes independence and creative problem-solving.

Asking probing questions: Parents can play an important role in the coaching process by asking thought-provoking questions that encourage their children to think critically and find solutions on their own. By asking open-ended questions, parents can help them develop their decision-making skills and enhance their ability to analyze situations independently. This approach promotes self-discovery and empowers them to take ownership of their development.
Listen to your children. Active listening is a powerful tool for parents in the coaching process. By attentively listening to them as they identify and solve issues amongst themselves during a match or practice, parents can validate their problem-solving efforts and promote autonomy. This helps them gain confidence in their abilities and fosters a sense of responsibility for their own growth.
Praising players for trying new skills: Encouraging them to step out of their comfort zones and try new skills is crucial for their development. Parents can provide positive reinforcement by acknowledging and praising them for their efforts and experimenting with new techniques or strategies. This recognition boosts their self-esteem and motivation, fostering a growth mindset that encourages continuous learning and improvement.

By integrating these roles into our club culture, we create an environment that values independent thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. Our athletes are empowered to take risks, make decisions, and learn from both successes and failures. This approach not only enhances their athletic abilities but also equips them with valuable life skills that extend beyond the sports field.

It's important to ensure that these roles are applied in a balanced and constructive manner. Parents should also be mindful of not overstepping boundaries and interfering with the coach's role. The Tryout window closes June 30, 2027, as the SOCAL
Transfer Policy goes into effect July 1, 2027.

Published “Tryouts” may not occur AFTER July 1, 2027. Clubs may post on their
websites for specific team openings, or specific teams may post on social media about open roster spots, but
“Tryouts” may not be
advertised after July 1, 2027.

NOTE :

For the 2025/26 N1 teams in the age groups (U13 and U14) with extended competition into the Spring 2026
season that will be completed after State Cup 2026, only a MAXIMUM of 3 players may be added to
your N1 roster for spring games. Since spring games will be completed after tryouts in these age groups,
teams
may not stack rosters to fulfill their 2025/2026 N1 schedule, so the limit of 3 additional players may be
added
and teams may not exceed the maximum roster limits as set forth by SOCAL.

Transfer Policy

Players can NOT transfer to another club beginning July 1, 2026 unless:

The player is PAID IN FULL, AND
The outgoing DOC has given permission for the player to transfer.

Clubs and Teams CAN

Advertise for tryouts in any manner, and at any time, so long as the tryout dates are not before
the dates
above.
Re-sign existing players from their own club at any time without holding tryouts at any age
group.
Sign players coming from recreational programs or from CSL, Southwest Super League, or the
Pacific
Regional League. Teams/players in these leagues are not protected by the SOCAL Transfer or
Tryout
Policies.
Have free or paid camps, clinics, etc., for players within their own club at any time. This must
be clearly
indicated on all marketing materials and social media channels.
Have camps, clinics, etc., for players outside of their club only if there is a fee charged for
the session.

Clubs and Teams CAN

Hold tryouts any sooner than the dates above.
Publicly advertise via any platform (social media, email blasts, website, etc.) tryouts being
held any
sooner than the dates above.
Have FREE camps, clinics, etc., for players outside of their club.

The Tryout Policy is NOT an anti-recruiting policy. Recruiting cannot be controlled nor managed.
However, players cannot transfer without both of the criteria listed above and in the Transfer Policy.
Any club that violates the Tryout Policy will be fined as follows:

1st offense — $500.00 fine.
2nd offense — $1,000.00 fine and probation.
3rd offense — Club may be dropped from the league after review by the Technical Committee..

As members of SOCAL, clubs agree to adhere to and follow all Rules and Regulations of SOCAL. Failure to
adhere to the Tryout Policy and dates will result in monetary fines to clubs and coach suspensions for
individual coaches that publicly advertise tryouts outside of the tryout dates. These dates apply to ALL
MEMBERS of SOCAL. No club, or team, is exempt.

As member clubs of SOCAL, ALL member clubs have agreed NOT
to hold tryouts for other league
